Thanks Chris.
There is something very odd, though (what a surprise!). Technomyrmex does not show on the Gateway on https://data.nbn.org.uk/Taxa. Z. alb. does the same as the Cotula alpina I alerted a few weeks ago - it does not appear in the returns for 'Zele', but if I expand the genus I see it.
In the past few weeks in our wonderful new Gateway, and purely in the course of ordinary use (i.e. I am not searching for problems), I have alerted to errors in Cotula, Botria, Zele and Technomyrmex (though I suppose in that last instance it may not have reached the Gateway system yet). That suggests to me that there are *very many* other similar problems yet to be uncovered, as I would have as good a chance of winning the lottery without a ticket as of picking up all the faults in the course of four routine searches.
You will have the understanding of how these errors might relate to the database structure and who is responsible for implementing UKSI correctly on the Gateway, so may I ask you to pass it on to the right desk, please? And we will hope it does not sink to the bottom of the enormous heap of faults that have already been notified through the Forum. The taxon search is, after all, fundamental to the raison d' etre of the site.
Gateway 5 makes me wish I had taken up knitting instead of natural history (and I am not the only one who thinks similarly). Unfortunately, it's too early for a large glass of malt ...
