Re: Erroneous heirarchy

Not sure if this should be here or under bugs, but here goes:

I've just noticed that according to the Recorder 3 heirarchy in Recorder6 that Polecat-Ferret (Mustela furo x putorius) is given as a child taxon of American Mink (Mustela vison) - I'm sure this was not the case previously, but I cannot be sure

I am on Rec 6.15.4.238 and dictionary P

Re: Erroneous heirarchy

I have checked Polecat-Ferret, Mustela furo x putorius, and it is under American Mink, Mustela vison, in the Recorder 3 list in both v6.14.4.212 J and v6.15.4.238 P but in Recorder 3 the taxonomic codes are 9720*003*020*060*00 and 9720*003*020*050*00 respectively so it isn’t in Recorder 3. If it was, it would have a code of, say, 9720*003*020*050*10.

Why is European Water Vole, now Arvicola amphibius, at the top level of hierarchy in the MAMMALIA list in v6.15.4.238 P and not under Arvicola? In v6.14.4.212 J, it is Arvicola terrestris and it is in the correct place in the hierarchy in MAMMALIA.

Also, why is Great Blue Heron, Ardea Herodias, at the top level of the hierarchy in BIRDS in v6.14.4.212 J and v6.15.4.238 P when the genus is present and in the right place?

I fear that these issues will add to the reporting problems in Recorder 6.

Another point: are all the new names being added to the List of additional names? If so, they will add to the problems in post 7 in http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?pid=5828#p5828.

Re: Erroneous heirarchy

OK I just upgraded the dictionary (Z & 10 which I thought were to fix the dictionary) and Great Blue Heron is still outside Aves

Chris

Any chance of  fix on this. I think it is just a case of pointing TLI key NHMSYS0001688469

to  a parent of NHMSYS0000528734. I appeciate that the NHM is not the owner of the list, but this looks like just a mistake.

Re: Erroneous heirarchy

Just a quick update on the Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias). I think the problem has arisen because this species (a very rare vagrant to the UK) is only present on the "British Ornithologists' Union British List (Categories A, B, C)" checklist where for some reason it hasn't been given a parent in the hierarchy. I will correct this and it should filter through in later updates.

Re: Erroneous heirarchy

I have also just checked Mustela furo x putorius and it does indeed have an incorrect parent in the Recorder 3.3 list. I will change this to point to Mustela furo.

Re: Erroneous heirarchy

I have fixed the Ardea herodias problem, mentioned in another thread too. The Mustela furo x putorius has also been fixed by pointing it to the genus Mustela :)
