Re: Unique Recommended TLIK

We are currently doing some work into matching records to cited species on LWS, and by collecting information on the number of records for a species as well as various other information which includes the species 'Recommended Taxon List Item Key'.

However, we have just noticed that the TLIK for a variant of a species for which a site is cited for is identical to the one for the species, the varient/subsp is what we want to list while the sp is common and not a cited species.

I had assumed that a species and subsp would have unique TLIKs? As they have the same this risks us reporting on the common species as the subsp giving incorrect counts.

Is this an error in the way the Recommended TLIK is set up?

Re: Unique Recommended TLIK

Yes, there is a problem within the dictionary where an entry for a species is given the wrong RTLIK.  The most frequent problem is for variants/sub-species, but it does occasionally happen with different species in the same genus.  It's something we at TWIC have been trying to work around for the last few months.  It's come up on the forums previously (http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?id=2073), so people are aware of the issue.
