Re: Eysarcoris taxonomy

I've been looking through the NBN accounts for shieldbugs and found that you have two separate pages for what is a single species: Eysarcoris venustissimus.

http://data.nbn.org.uk/gridMap/gridMap.jsp?allDs=1&srchSpKey=NHMSYS0020309235

This species used to be called Eysarcoris fabricii, but the older name venustissimus was recently adopted as per ICZN convention and this is now the valid name. Hence data for these two synonymous species should be merged under E. venustissimus.

Many thanks

Hello Tristan

I have just replied to your request in my email, copying Charles Hussey in, so that Charles can look into this issue within the Checklist of Heteroptera in the species dictionary

Best wishes
