Re: American Lobster Off South-West Coast

Charles,

The Glaucus discussion group has recently been discussing finds of American Lobster (Homarus americanus) off the coast at Selsey, West Sussex.  Odd ones have been turning up for decades.  An American Lobster, Homarus americanus, was discovered captured by a
fishing vessel on a boat out of Selsey, West Sussex. A few specimens have been caught before in the approaches to Southampton Water.

FISHERY experts are continuing to investigate reports that potentially damaging American / Canadian lobster are being found off the south-west Coast of England. There are fears that these alien visitors threaten Britain's own lobster catching industry which is worth almost £40-million a year.

Could this lobster species (American Lobster, Homarus americanus, H. Milne-Edwards, 1837) be added to the Dictionary please ?

Many thanks.
