You don't need to use XML Reports as such - you could add spacial reference precision as an attribute to the Report Wizard and then post-process, as Matt suggests. Have a look in the REPORT_ATTRIBUTE and REPORT_FIELD tables and you should get an idea of how it works. I'm not sure if this is documented further, though.
In fact, I've just had a crack at it and successfully added a workable attribute. Have a look at these two screenshots and you should get the gist:

I'm not sure about adding filters. That's probably a bit more tricky.
