Re: JNCC status list limitations
The recent topic on the JNCC status list has reminded me of another issue. To me there is a big difference between, say, Spergula arvensis (Corn Spurrey) and Sorbus subcuneata (a very rare whitebeam) yet both have the same 2001 IUCN designation on the list i.e. RedList_GB_post2001:VU. In our assessment of local sites we use a scoring system for determining the relative status of species and and the score is higher for those based on rarity than those based on decline.
Is it going to be possible to assign this distinction to species on the list e.g. RedList_GB_post2001:VU(decline)?
