Re: Moth species - Eucosma scutana

Hi

I have received a record from a recorder, verified by Keith Bland at NMS, of Eucosma scutana.  I've found the details on a couple of online lists (LepIndex, BioLib) but can't find reference to it or to any synonyms on the Recorder 6 dictionaries.  Am I missing something?

Re: Moth species - Eucosma scutana

Dear Mark,

Looks like Eucosma scutana is now taken to be a synonym of Eucosma parvulana (which is in the Species Dictionary). According to Fauna Europaea, it was synonymised in Agassiz, D. J. L. & Langmaid, J. R.  2004.  The Eucosma hohenwartiana group of species (Tortricidae).  Nota Lepidopterologica 27 (1): 41-49.

I can add a record for Eucosma scutana to the Dictionary if really necessary - let me know.

Thanks Charles

I'll enter the synonym Eucosma parvulana with appropriate notes in the taxon determination explaining this.

Thanks for your help
