Re: Import wizard and the cancel button

Don't know if anyone else has experienced this but I've lots quite a bit of time because of it.  Its not a bug, but a feature that inadvertently helps you to lose hours of work.

When you reach the location matching screen on the import wizard, you merrily sit matching locations with your database.  Occasionally you may want to look up a site externally to recorder (on a GIS map or the OS get-a-map website) to check grid ref or place name etc.  When you come back to recorder, you click back in the blank box next to the site you were looking up and start typing the name of the location you're looking up.  All's fine.

But...if you fail to click precisely on the name box and accidentally click on the frame of the box and start typing, focus is on the Recorder screen rather than in the box and as soon as you hit a letter 'c' this activates the 'Cancel' button and loses your import :(

This also means that all the locations you matched previously are lost and are not remembered when you start the import again, not to mention the time lost in running through the initial import screens again.

Could the keyboard shortcut for the Cancel button be disabled therefore to avoid accidental operation of it?

Re: Import wizard and the cancel button

You can do this quite easy by your own means. The only thing you have to do is to create a new localised language 'English/United Kingdom' beside the native language that come with the Recorder Set-up-CD or the upgrade kit and change the property frmImportWizard.btnCancel.Caption from '&Cancel' to 'Cancel'

To do this
- download the Language Manager Tool that allows you to create and edit translations for Recorder (from V 6.10.4 upwards) at Korzh website (http://devtools.korzh.com/downloads/lmsetup.exe),
- install the tool on your machine and start it,
- select 'File>Open Project…', open the 'RecorderApp.ntv.lng' file in your Recorder program directory,
- select 'File>Create New Language'. In the screen 'Create new language' select 'English (United Kingdom)' as language identifier and choose [OK].

You will get a table similar an excel spreadsheet.

- From the drop down box on the upper left part of Language Manager's main screen select "Forms.FrmImportWizard".
- Search the property 'btnCancel.Caption' and change it's value in the English (United Kingdom) column from '&Cancel' to 'Cancel'.
- Save the language.

We are using this tool for the German translation of Recorder's front end and have already translated the most part of it.
To make it easier I have uploaded the localized English language files (here: http://forums.nbn.org.uk/uploads.php?file=RecorderApp_ENG.zip) in which I have already made this change. Unpack the zipped files and drop it in your Recorder 6 directory. (This file is only synchronised for Recorder 6.13.2.176! Please check first if you have upgraded to this version of Recorder 6)

Best wishes

Re: Import wizard and the cancel button

The keyboard shortcut which creates this problem should be inactivated during the import wizard in the next release (6.14) as well as the functionality of a comit button to save matches. I will post a full list of changes in 6.14 when the list is finalised.
