Topic: Gliophorus sciophanus and Dicranopalpus ramosus agg.

Hi Chris & co.

We have recently been asked to add a record of Gliophorus sciophanus to our database, which is not currently available on Recorder 6. This is fairly recent discovery confirmed by DNA work, can it be added if possible?

The full scientific name: Gliophorus sciophanus
The authority: (Fr.) Herink, Sb. severočesk. Mus., Hist. Nat. 1: 82 (1958)
The reason: Seems confirmed as present in UK via DNA work

I also wanted to request an aggregate option for Dicranopalpus ramosus if possible. The presence of another 1 or 2 Dicranopalpus species in the UK was confirmed 10 years ago, and SRS refers to new records as an agg., but there is no option to enter records as that. ATM everything is going in as Dicranopalpus unless confirmed by dissection.

I guess Harvestman Recording Scheme might need to weigh in on this request :)

Cheers
Elaine

I use Dicranopalpus ramosus sensu lato (pre 2015) TVK NHMSYS0021178904 TLIK NBNORG0000013141 to cover any that are not confirmed as either ramosus or caudatus, Elaine.

Re: Gliophorus sciophanus and Dicranopalpus ramosus agg.

Gliophorus sciophanus (Fr.) Herink is on the UKSI and is included in the latest Recorder dictionary update but as synonym of Gliophorus aff. perplexus. See https://uksi-sandbox-test.nhm.ac.uk/tax … 021942539. Gliophorus sciophanus is a controversial name. In the paper that described Gliophorus europerplexus, there is a cogent arguement as to why Gliophorus sciophanus is a nomen dubium and should not be used.
