Topic: Import Wizard - redundant taxa

I am currently not able to upload any Marsh saxifrage - Saxifraga hirculus records into Recorder, with the import wizard throwing up the message "Matches only to redundant taxa".

Saxifraga hirculus is listed in a number of dictionaries, among others the VASCULAR PLANTS... checklist, and I can add records for the species manually in the survey window.

Recorder version is 6.30. I'd appreciate if this could be addressed.

Thanks

Re: Import Wizard - redundant taxa

This is resolved now.
Going to Tools > Options > General and unticking <Use preferred taxa for Import Wizard> did the trick and let me match the taxon using the VASCULAR PLANTS... checklist.

Re: Import Wizard - redundant taxa

Hi
I have checked  Iin  the UKSI  and this taxa is considered redundant which is why R6 is not allowing it to be used. Redundant taxa are no longer considered as valid UK species. I don't know why this is the case for this species, but it suggests more investigation is required into taxonomy

Re: Import Wizard - redundant taxa

Hi there,

Do we know if there was ever further investigation into this species?

I just noticed that Saxifraga hirculus isn't in A MASTER CHECKLIST in Recorder 6, but it is in the VASCULAR PLANTS AND STONEWORTS list.

What seems stranger still is if you use 'Find taxon' for Saxifraga hirculus in A MASTER CHECKLIST, nothing comes up if you restrict the search to Current Checklist or Unrestricted.  However it does appear if restricted to Preferred Taxa - the result being for A MASTER CHECKLIST.  If you click OK though, an information message comes up: 'The specified taxon was not found in the current list'.

If you run 'Find taxon' in the VASCULAR PLANTS AND STONEWORTS list, there are again no results for Unrestricted, the same 'false' listing for A MASTER CHECKLIST if restricted to Preferred Taxa, but if restricted to Current List, a result does then come up for Saxifraga hirculus within the VASCULAR PLANTS AND STONEWORTS list (which is really there).

Saxifraga hirculus is listed in the NatureScot sensitive species list (https://www.nature.scot/sites/default/f … 032665.pdf).

Unlikely to cause us huge issues, but just thought it was all a bit odd.

I'm guessing its redundant status - along with it being marked as non-native - are typos? Chris might need to chime in here.
