Topic: Redundant locations report

We have a lot of location records on our system that no longer have any observations against them, and would like to get rid of them. Some have locations beneath them in the hierarchy that do have observations, so we will probably have to do this manually rather than by batch update. Does anyone have a report that would list them for us?

Re: Redundant locations report

Hi

The attached report should list all your locations and show the ones which either have data atached directly or which have sub sites below them (at any level) with data attached. It ignores system supplied locations and their shilden even if not system supplied.

This Report could be turned into a Batch Update to delete the Locations with no data.

Re: Redundant locations report

Sorry.

Report is attached, plus a Batch Update which will delete them. The Batch Update isn't very forgiving, so if you use  it make sure you have a backup and check afterwards that everything looks ok. It is more likely to fail than delete anything that matters. It can't delete Locations or their parents which have data attached to them, but it will delete locations which  have other infomation attached(eg Measurements, Grid Squares, Features).

Report is in System/Supplied/Information
Batch Update is in System Supplied/Delete

Re: Redundant locations report

Thanks, Mike. I haven't tried the batch update yet but the report is just what we need.
