Re: New moth aggregates required...

Hi,

I wish to have a couple of moth taxa aggregates added to the "List of additional species" dictionary, namely...

Ectropis bistortata/crepuscularia (Engrailed/Small Engrailed)
Euxoa tritici/obelisca (White-line Dart/Square-spot Dart)

These are now required to enable these recorded aggregates to be uploaded to the NMRS database.

If this isn't the appropriate forum for requesting these new dictionary entries, please advise the channels I need to follow.

Best wishes,
Les.

Les

Both of those sound like exceellent aggregate additions to me. Odd that they have not been requested before really.

Cheers

These two aggregates have been added to the 'List of Additional Names' and will be forwarded to Steve Wilkinson later today to form part of the next update to Recorder.

Re: New moth aggregates required...

Charles,

Thanks for adding them to the list, no doubt there will be others in the future! These two should be it for now though.

Steve,

As the vast majority of vice-county moth recorders use MapMate, I need to ensure I can resolve any moth taxa that gets forwarded to the NMRS. These two are the only one missing at the moment. However, I haven't cross-checked the micro-moth taxa, no doubt in time this will need to be looked into.

Best wishes,
Les.

Re: New moth aggregates required...

Hi Charles,

I have another moth for the List of additional names dictionary, namely...

Apamea crenata ab. combusta (Clouded-bordered Brindle)

I'll advise as-and-when I find any more that I'll need as I process the vice-county datasets.

Thanks in advance,
Les.

Re: New moth aggregates required...

A couple more macro-moths I've found that will crop up...

Agriopis marginaria ab. fuscata (Dotted Border)
Paradarisa consonaria ab. waiensis (Square Spot)
Paradarisa consonaria f. nigra (Square Spot)
Acronicta megacephala ab. nigra Poplar Grey)

I've checked all the appropriate dictionaries and these don't appear.

Thanks again!

Best wishes,
Les.

Re: New moth aggregates required...

Hi again,

Sorry about this, I have a load more that will require adding as I will get data for these species in due course...

Cyclophora ruficiliaria (Jersey Mocha)
Crocallis dardoinaria (Dusky Scalloped Oak)
Hyphoria testudinaria (Patton’s Tiger)
Apantesis phalerata
Nola chlamitulalis (Jersey Black Arches)
Aedia leucomelas (Sorcerer)
Pseudeustrotia candidula (Shining Marbled)
Eucarta virgo (Silvery Gem)
Methorasa latreillei (Latreille’s Latin)
Chrysodeixis eriosoma
Argyrogramma signata
Catocala amatrix
Pandesma robusta

I'm pretty sure these don't appear in any dictionary.

I hope this is now it! Apologies for the piecemeal approach.

Your help is appreciated.

Best wishes,
Les.

Re: New moth aggregates required...

Further to my previous message, please ignore...

Nola chlamitulalis (Jersey Black Arches)

Nola chlamytulalis is the correct spellng and IS available already.

Best wishes,
Les.

Re: New moth aggregates required...

These all seem to have been added by Charles, although he didn't respond here.
