Topic: Heliozoa

I do not seem able to find heliozoans on the UKSI list.
I am informed that there are about twenty species which are found in Sphagnum.

Please can you add
Acanthocystis turfacea Carter, 1863.
Ref: WORMS http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php? … ;id=341765

As we have an abundance of Sphagnum - more species may follow.

Many thanks

Christine

That was a good one, resulting in a lot of extra levels :)

Acanthocystis turfacea Carter, 1863

I'm not 100% sure that I have classed them correctly because the taxonomy seems quite confused between sources, but it will do for now :)

Re: Heliozoa

It's the wriggly ones that cause all the problems!
Hunting micro-beasties in sphagnum is the new winter sport in this part of the world.

Many thanks
