Topic: Designations: Anaptychia runcinata, fusca and Schaereria fuscocinerea
In my continued efforts to sort out the status lists for Wales I have had communication from Ray Woods regarding some anomalies within the species dictionary, which for the root of the errors that he is picking up.
Firstly are relatively simple thing to correct:
"Anaptychia fusca and Anaptychia runcinata are the same thing"
As far as I can see, this synonymy is correct in the Fungi and Lichen preferred checklists. However the names that have been pulled out in our status tables come from the MARINE checklist, and here they have not been synonymised.
Can NameServer be updated to point both Anaptychia fusca (TVK = NHMSYS0021058992) and Anaptychia runcinata (TVK = NHMSYS0021058993) at Anaptychia runcinata (TVK = NHMSYS0001474607)? If not, can Anaptychia fusca (TVK = NHMSYS0021058992) be synonymised with Anaptychia runcinata (TVK = NHMSYS0021058993) in the MARINE checklist?
The second problem that RAy has picked out relates to Schaereria fuscocinerea - on which Ray states "only var sorediata is RD2 (UK)".
This took a bit more hunting to find the source, but essentially this (TLIK = NBNSYS0000134364) comes from 'Pink List of Plants'. A list that I now see is potentially full of errors. So my next question, might be one for Mike rather than Chris: Can I exclude all statuses that derive their names from this checklist, or do I need to look at each designation on merit? I have not quite got my head around the link between the checklists and the designations lists.
Given the number of things that Ray has questioned, and that I've only just started to work through his notes there will be probably be more for me to ask here over the next week or so.
