Topic: Seeking help to matchup three taxa with NBN codes (tvks)

I have a list of over a 1000 taxa which I have successfully managed to match-up to correct NBN codes (Taxon Version Keys) e.g.

Najas flexilis (Willd.) Rostk. & W.L.E. Schmidt
is
NHMSYS0000460842

but I haven't found a matching TVK for these three Threatened UK plant species:

1.) Telaranea europaea J.J. Engel & G.L. Merr.
theplantlist.org/tpl1.1/record/tro-35215688

It's a liverwort in the family Lepidoziaceae and was listed as 'Endangered' on the 2011 Red List for bryophytes in Britain (Hodgetts, 2011).

2.) Sciuro-hypnum starkii (Brid.) Ignatov & Huttunen
theplantlist.org/tpl1.1/record/tro-35213804

It's a moss in the family Brachytheciaceae and was listed as 'Endangered' on the 2011 Red List for bryophytes in Britain (Hodgetts, 2011).

3.) Sorbus “Menai Strait Form”

It's on the Welsh Vascular Plants Red List (2008) as Critically Endangered. Has it been formally described yet?

If anyone knows if these taxa have NBN tvks please let me know

Hi - let me have a look into those with Fred Rumsey here in the NHM and get back to you. It looks like thos names need creating anyway but let me find out if they are synonyms too. :)

Re: Seeking help to matchup three taxa with NBN codes (tvks)

Hey Chris,

I just realised the NBN code you gave for Telaranea europaea isn't 16 digits.
I also can't find it via the web GUI, via the name string.

What happened to it?

Re: Seeking help to matchup three taxa with NBN codes (tvks)

Apologies - it should have been NHMSYS0021164701 but I hadn't copied all of the digits :)

It's likely that the NBN Gateway hasn't been updated since I created the new names/codes. Although I can update my database here fairly quickly (and give codes out to enable records to be collected), updates to the NBN Gateway have to be scheduled into the NBN Gateway developent team's workload and sometimes this does take a while. If this is delaying a big update to the NBN Gateway it might be worth chatting with Graham French or Rachel Stroud to see if they can do an update - I can pretty much issue an update from here at any time :)

Re: Seeking help to matchup three taxa with NBN codes (tvks)

Thanks Chris.

As I still have many "enhanced access" requests still pending I won't chase it up with NBN just yet. I imagine it will take some time to manually contact all the pending dataset owners, giving NBN a little bit more time to update the Gateway.
