Topic: Order not showing for some Aculeate families

Hello Chris.  I have just done a report in R6 asking for the orders of a batch of insect records to be displayed.

All is fine except for the following aculeate familes (one example for each family):

Recommended Taxon Name without Sub-genus    Taxon Family    Taxon Order    Taxon Class    Taxon Phylum    Taxon Kingdom    Taxon group

Andrena tarsata    Andrenidae    Animalia    Animalia    Animalia    Animalia    insect - hymenopteran
Colletes succinctus    Colletidae    Animalia    Animalia    Animalia    Animalia    insect - hymenopteran
Halictus rubicundus    Halictidae    Animalia    Animalia    Animalia    Animalia    insect - hymenopteran
Osmia bicornis    Megachilidae    Animalia    Animalia    Animalia    Animalia    insect - hymenopteran

I see on NBNG that Halictidae seems to have no higher hierarchy other than the Kingdom, while Vespidae has the full hierarchy.  I don't know if this is related to a point I mentioned in another post recently http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?id=6467 where the hierarchy of aculeates has errors and inconsistencies.

I have frequently done reports of this sort over years, and never had this substitution of Animalia for Hymenoptera.

Re: Order not showing for some Aculeate families

Hi Murdo

Yes, Mike pointed that crazy one out to me the other day. Not sure how I managed to foul it up that badly when I revamped the bee families but I blame it on the primitive admin system for maintaining the Organism table! :)  I have corrected all of them in the meantime.

Best wishes,
Chris R.
