Topic: Apamea secalis L.

Chris, this is hurting my head thinking about this :)

The BRC card RA8 (lepidoptera) lists the species secalis in the genus Apamea, however Apamea secalis doesn't exist in the dictionary. Can you add Apamea secalis as a synonym of Mesapamea secalis BUT presumably as it's been split it should rather refer to the aggregate taxon?

I think what I want to be able to do is record Apamea secalis from before the split, but have it come out as Mesapamea secalis agg. ?

[could be worse - I could be trying to explain this on a Friday afternoon!)

Re: Apamea secalis L.

OK, I have added Apamea secalis as a junior syn of the Mesapamea secalis agg. taxon concept :)

Apamea secalis Linnaeus, 1758
tvk NHMSYS0021164145

As you say, it must be the old name for it, pre split so it should go against the agg.
