Topic: Empis scutellata (Diptera)

I just tried to add a record of Empis scutellata to iRecord, and the only version it offers me is "Empis scutellata nomen nudum". On the website there are two versions of E. scutellata, one of which is a synonym of the other. The synonymised version is dated 1835, and the recommended version 1824, but both are shown as nomen nudum:
http://www.nhm.ac.uk/research-curation/ … llata.html

In Peter Chandler's checklist the 1824 version is shown as nomen nudum, and has been synonymised with the 1835 version:

So, as far as I can see the UKSI needs changing to show the 1835 name as being recommended, and the "nomen nudum" suffix should be removed.

Re: Empis scutellata (Diptera)

Thanks for spotting that Martin - I agree, you can't have a nomen nudum as the recommended name for a valid taxon. I will go with the 1835 name as Chandler uses it and I would have done it eventually anyway when I got some time to update the Diptera list ;)

Re: Empis scutellata (Diptera)

Sorry about that - I had incorrectly marked it as 'done' in my list - I have promoted the name without the nomen-nudum now so it should come through in the next iRecord update :)
