Topic: Eteone picta

Chris, can you add Eteone picta Quatrefages, 1866 as a synonym of Mysta picta (Quatrefages, 1866).

I think there is also a problem with Mysta picta - the Gateway is showing it as a child of Eteone; presumably it should be a child of Mysta; however Mysta is a synonym of Eteone?

Looking on Worms it looks like the subgenus Eteone (Mysta) Malmgren, 1865 was raised to generic status?

Re: Eteone picta

This is an interesting one and it illustrates a common problem with WoRMS - taxonomists changing the placement of subgenera and species but not creating the new binomial! In this case I think Mysta really is a junior synonym of Eteone and it is also a subgenus depending on your feelings. But the simplest way to fix the problem is to create Eteone picta as the new name for Mysta picta and then let the experts fight over which name has precedence ;)

That's all done now :)
