Topic: Leiopus linnei

Hi Chris, I don't think this has been requested/is in the dictionary - can we have Leiopus linnei.

Not sure how you want to deal with pre-split records? I'll leave that to you :-). I find seperating the two species physically much easier than taxonomically......

Ahh, that usually creates a bit of fun because we have to mark the existing nebulosus concept as something like "sens. lat., pre 2009" and then add the linnei as a new concept and then nebulous as another new concept marked "sens. str, post 2009" :)  In this case I think I won't modify the original nebulosus, I will create a new sens.lat. name to encapsulate the existing nebulosus name.

Leiopus nebulosus (Linnaeus, 1758) sens. str., post 2009

I'm just working out which solution I need for the old (pre 2009) concept :)

Just another update - the old name has been amended to have the attribute "sens. lat., pre 2009" because this was the safest option and Andrew Duff agreed to the side effect, which is a retrospective 'amendment' of the name in his checklist. This prevents people from making mistakes when choosing nebulosus :)
