Topic: New marine mollusc species dictionary

I recently installed the new taxon dictionary for marine mollucsa. Running a check, it appeared there were some 48 taxa in my dataset not linked to taxa in the new dictionary. I've been through the list and identified the correct "destination" in the new dictionary for the old unlinked taxa. I have the results on the attached spreadsheet. Can this be built into the system please?

Re: New marine mollusc species dictionary

That's really useful - many thanks. I have been working on manually reconciling synonyms in the marine list over the last few months. Out of interest, was your spreadsheet created by hand or can you output it again with some extra information? I just ask because if you could give me the TAXON_VERSION_KEY for both names then I can just write a script that synonymises the old name under the new one. :)

Re: New marine mollusc species dictionary

Hello Chris. The list was created by hand so I think your request is beyond me I'm afraid.
I have been using the Manage User Added Taxa in my Recorder 6 to sort things out locally for me but obviously this won't help overall.

That's no problem - you have given me a TLIK for the old name (which will point to the TVK) and I can probably derive a TVK by passing your new names through my new TaxonMatch tool :)   I will try that tomorrow and report back to you ... there's something very satisfying about merging synonyms.

Re: New marine mollusc species dictionary

In the end I changed them manually because they each needed checking to see whether there were additional synonyms attached to them. I didn't synonymise the "sp." names (they were mainly EA names/concepts) and there were one or two others that I left, because they could be slightly different concepts, but the vast majority have been synonymised now :)

In the attached file I have marked in yellow all of the names I have synonymised. Red text are the ones that I have left as they are :)

Thanks again!
