Topic: Problem entering newt records!
in the days of Recorder 3 a record for "newt sp." could be entered as "Triturus" and that was correct - now with the split, this now suggests these are all either GCN or Italian Crested Newt.
The only 'correct' option now is to enter them as 'Salamandridae', unfortunately this has the common name of 'Salamander' which is going to confuse non-biologists into thinking these are alien spp. records
A way round would be to include the sub-family Pleurodelinae (which isn't currently in Rec6 dictionary)
Anyone worked out a way around this conundrum?
NOTE: I have tried producing a report selecting "Triturus" from the Recorder list and include sub-levels - this only returned records for Triturus & T.cristatus - my understanding when Recorder was built was that the lists would remember what that taxon contained "in respect to that list" - that is obviously not the case!
