The preferred Lepidoptera list has Magpie Duck as the common name for Abraxas grossulariata, which is obviously wrong. R6 is using the common name from the preferred list which is correct, but I can't explain why this has only just shown up as a problem as I suspect the list has been wrong for a long time. Hopefully it can be put right for the next update which is not far away.
This is also affecting Pica pica
Please could you explain the problem with Pica pica. The common name Magpie Duck is coming from the the preferred bird list.
Pica pica on the BIRDS list also has the common name of Magpie Duck
Sorry down to my ignorance of birds. Now I have looked it up can see that it is obviously the wrong common name.
OK folks - I have tracked this one down - humble apologies!! I swear, I think Magpies have it in for me recently, for all the hassle this name string has caused ;) The error crept in after a simple edit to the Farmed animals list. I have given Mike details on how it can be fixed and the fix is fairly straightforward.
The effect is entirely reversible and there will be no lasting effect to existing data ... the TVKs are all fine but the name string attached to the TVK in TAXON was modified incorrectly. My fix creates a new name string for Magpie Duck and reverts the original string to Magpie.
The only problem is with entering new data for "Magpie" which will look a bit crazy until the patch has been applied. To help:
"Magpie Duck" (insect - moth) is the Magpie moth
"Magpie Duck" (bird, Species) is the Magpie bird
"Magpie Duck" (bird, Breed) is the real Magpie Duck
Best wishes, and sorry again for the foul-up :)

I attach Dictionary Upgrade 0000002J which implements the changes made by Chris to correct this problem. Note that if you haven't yet run 0000002I then this needs to be run as well. It attach it here for convenience.
Both these files need to be copied (as they are) into the Dictionary upgrades scripts folder and the dictionary upgrade run as normal. Index tables will need to be rebuilt.
If the problem with Magpie Moth is not of particular concern to you then these changes will be incorporated into the next Dictionary upgrade which should be ready in a a few weeks.
Thanks Mike, Chris - looks good here.
