Topic: Marine isopod name query

The marine isopod Idotea balt(h)ica has been discussed on iSpot recently, e.g. here:
http://www.ispotnature.org/node/402610

It appears that the name in the UKSI (which has "baltica") is out of line with other sources e.g. MarLIN (which has "balthica"). I'm not qualified to judge which is correct, but it does appear to be an anomaly.

UKSI:

MarLIN:

Re: Marine isopod name query

Great - well spotted Martin. :)  The MSBIAS checklist will be using WoRMS as the source for its taxonomy and that catalogue agrees with "balthica" so I have added it and sunk the old name:

Idotea balthica (Pallas, 1772)
tvk NHMSYS0021009770
