Topic: Earthworm problem

Sorry, Chris.  Me again giving you work.  It's what happens on a cool wet day.

Importing via the R6 wizard what should have been

Aporrectodea caliginosa (Savigny, 1826) [Grey Worm], NBNSYS0000022338

I notice it appeared as the badly formed name (2 p's, 1 r)

Apporectodea cupulifera (Tétry, 1937)

without any alert or offer of alternatives.

These are two different species as far as I can establish, the correct form of the latter being

Aporrectodea cupulifera (Tétry, 1937), NHMSYS0020926421.

A little research has shown that importing with the R3.3 and EA lists is correct (calignosa --> calignosa), but using the Additional names you get calignosa --> cupulifera.

Something wrong, I feel sure.

Re: Earthworm problem

I can't see what could have caused this. Apporectodea cupulifera does appear in the list of  additional names, but I can't see anything in the dictionary linking this to Aporrectodea caliginosa.  I have tried duplicating this in the import wizard, but with no sucess. Wonder if somehow it has got matched in error, but can't see any entry in IW_Matched_Species (your database) which could have caused this.

Re: Earthworm problem

Hi Murdo ... no problem at all - if you spot anything then always let me know. In this case though, as it is closely linked to the R6 import I will defer to Mike's much greater knowledge of the inner workings of R6. If he can instruct me on any changes then I will of course implement them if there is a problem with the data. :)

Re: Earthworm problem

I have just tried this again, and have been unable to replicate the problem.  It certainly was the case when I posted the start of the thread.  One of these cosmic mysteries ...

Re: Earthworm problem

Always the same ... when you try to make it go wrong it behaves itself impeccably! ;)  Anyway I have logged it in my enquiry database so if it does occur again I have got record of this thread and we can try to find patterns in the behaviour. :)
