Topic: Platybunus pinetorum

Hi Chris,
Can we get a TVK for a harvestman?

Platybunus pinetorum (C.L.Koch, 1839)
http://www.eu-nomen.eu/portal/taxon.php … ame:278661

The species has been found in Larne, Co. Antrim and the ID has been confirmed by Paul Richards and Peter Harvey using photographs.

Many thanks,
Fiona

Re: Platybunus pinetorum

Hi,
I've just been alerted by a user of my online recording site (Indicia based, using BRC warehouse) that this species is no longer available for him to add a record of the species.

I have checked on the NBN Gateway and it has similarly disappeared from there too.

Can you let me know why this has happened and the status of this species?

Many thanks,
Fiona

Re: Platybunus pinetorum

Hi Fiona,

Not sure whether it might be a problem with the searching on those 2 platforms, but the species is still listed in my copy of the database. I know Graham has had issues to do with a table on the Gateway that needed rebuilding. I will see if the guys can trace the problem on their respective systems :)

Best wishes,
Chris R.

Many thanks Chris. Hopefully it will appear back on the lists soon and our recorder can submit his record.

Re: Platybunus pinetorum

Yes, I did a quick check here on iRecord and it wasn't coming up in the selection box for me either. It could possibly be a problem with the various linkages in the database but my web-toolkit, which I use to play around with the data, reports that everything seems OK. I think both iRecord & the NBN Gateway take my database and then manipulate it, creating many new tables, so it could be that something didn't update correctly at their ends.

Looks OK in Recorder 6.

Re: Platybunus pinetorum

Graham has reported that the current NBN Gateway database is dated *just* prior to that species being added, so that is explained. The latest update will fix this. I have chatted with John van Breda and we're just working out what's going on. It seems that the name has been flagged in iRecord as "no data entry allowed" because a previous taxonomy update appeared not to have the name in it but I think there could just have been a bit of a bug with that somewhere along the line. :)
