Topic: Priophorus inconsistency

Hello Chris.  This came up when I was doing an import in R6 the other day.  I am not sure what the problem is, but there is one, I feel sure.

The binomial I was wanting was Priophorus morio.  In R6, both the import wizard (Symphyta list) and 'Enter a species record' (Preferred lists), and if only the genus is entered, immediately insert P. laevifrons.

The genus name alone is not recognised in R6 except in the R3.3 list (a non-preferred list), despite P. laevifrons appearing in the Symphyta list.

From Gateway 5, we get:

Priophorus    Priophorus, INSECT - HYMENOPTERAN    0
Priophorus rufipes    Cladius (Priophorus) rufipes Serville, 1823, INSECT - HYMENOPTERAN    0
Priophorus pallipes    Cladius (Priophorus) pallipes Serville, 1823, INSECT - HYMENOPTERAN    5
Priophorus morio    Cladius (Priophorus) brullei (Dahlbom, 1835), INSECT - HYMENOPTERAN    25
Priophorus ulmi    Cladius (Trichiocampus) ulmi (Linnaeus, 1758), INSECT - HYMENOPTERAN    1
Cladius (Priophorus)    Cladius (Priophorus) Dahlbom, 1835, INSECT - HYMENOPTERAN    0
Priophorus pilicornis    Cladius (Priophorus) pilicornis Curtis, 1833, INSECT - HYMENOPTERAN    52
Priophorus laevifrons    Cladius (Trichiocampus) ulmi (Linnaeus, 1758), INSECT - HYMENOPTERAN    1
Cladius (Priophorus) ulmi    Cladius (Priophorus) ulmi (Linnaeus, 1758), INSECT - HYMENOPTERAN    5
Cladius (Priophorus) rufipes    Cladius (Priophorus) rufipes Serville, 1823, INSECT - HYMENOPTERAN    0
Cladius (Priophorus) pilicornis    Cladius (Priophorus) pilicornis Curtis, 1833, INSECT - HYMENOPTERAN    52
Cladius (Priophorus) brullei    Cladius (Priophorus) brullei (Dahlbom, 1835), INSECT - HYMENOPTERAN    25
Cladius (Priophorus) pallipes    Cladius (Priophorus) pallipes Serville, 1823, INSECT - HYMENOPTERAN    5
Cladius (Priophorus) compressicornis    Cladius (Priophorus) compressicornis (Fabricius, 1804), INSECT - HYMENOPTERAN    24

The practical result of this is that the taxon I was wanting to import (P. morio --> Cladius brullei) was imported as P. laevifrons (--> C. ulmi), and I only resolved it correctly by a bit of manual detective work.

One for a quiet moment and lots of coffee, I suspect.

Re: Priophorus inconsistency

Eeek ... I'm wondering how morio could have gone in as C.ulmi. I would start by trying the Recorder support team and then if it turns out to be a data issue I can always investigate at my end. :)
