Topic: Request for Tachydromia calcarata to be added.

Tachydromia calcarata (a dance fly) was discovered new to the UK when it found  in Cumbria in 2004 (Chvála & Hewitt 2006).

Reference:

M. Chvala, S. M. Hewitt, Tachydromia calcarata (Strobl) (Diptera : Hybotidae) new to Britain, with redescription of both sexes, and its correct classification within the T-interrupta group of species. Entomologica Fennica 17, 8-12 (2006).

Many Thanks

Sorry, forgot to include the authority. It is: (Strobl, 1910)

Re: Request for Tachydromia calcarata to be added.

Hi Gary

Thanks for pointing that out - I will database it and hopefully add it later today. Interestingly the name is a homonym with "Tachydromia calcarata Collin, 1926", which is a synonym of "Platypalpus pseudociliaris (Strobl, 1910)". Presumably Collin's was synonymised because the name was not in fact available in 1926 :)

This has been added and temporarily linked to Tachydromia authors until we get the Diptera checklist sorted out.
