Topic: A Cosmopterigid (Anatrachyntis rileyi)

Chris,

Back in 1987/1988 I recorded, and took voucher specimens, of some moths in the Palm House at Stapeley Water Gardens, London Road (A51), Nantwich, Cheshire.   It took me a year to track down the identities but what I initially thought were 3 species turned out to only be 2 - the tortix (Platynota rostrana) was highly sexually dimorphic.

The other, a Cosmopterigid, was identified as Pyroderces rileyi which has since been renamed as Anatrachyntis rileyi
(Walsingham, 1882).  This moth's larvae were bright pink and feeding in the flower racemes of the Chenille Plant.

The tortix has already been added to the Dictionary (years ago) but the Cosmopterigid still needs adding (I am currently going through my old notebooks and specimens and putting the data into the Cheshire LRC - rECOrd).  I will need this species adding to be able to enter the records.

So what needs adding:

Anatrachyntis rileyi (Walsingham, 1882)

synonym - Pyroderces rileyi (Walsingham, 1882)
English Name - Pink Bud Moth

Many thanks.

Cheers.

Pink Bud Moth

(I didn't add the synonym as I didn't feel that it would be widely in use here but let me know if it is necessary to have it)
