Topic: 8 New Species to the UK Required to be Added to the Dictionary
Dear Chris,
Eight new species of invertebrate to the UK were found during surveys last year on the Dundreggan Estate near Loch Ness in Scotland. For a short account see here: http://www.wildlifeextra.com/go/news/sawfly.html#cr
The species new to the UK which were found and identified were as follows:
A sawfly - Nematus pravus (Konow 1895)
An aphid parasitoid - Ephedrus helleni Mackauer, 1968
An aphid parasitoid - Praon cavariellae Stary, 1971
A fungus gnat - Brevicornu parafennicum Zaitzev, 1995
A fungus gnat - Mycomya disa Vaisanen, 1984
A fungus gnat - Sceptonia longiseta Šev?ík, 2004
A mite - Ceratozetella thienemanni (Willmann, 1943)
The above species require adding to the NBN Species Dictionary to enable records of them to reach the Gateway.
