Topic: Pipistrellus pipistrellus - Bat Conservation Trust list of UK bat name

Pipistrellus pipistrellus (in the strictest sense) on the "Bat Conservation Trust list of UK bat names" has a recommended TVK which points to Pipistrellus pipistrellus sensu lato on the "MAMMALIA" list. In my opinion, it should point to Pipistrellus pipistrellus (in the strictest sense).

Attached is info from Mikes "extra info" addin.

(as always, may not be a species dictionary problem!)

Re: Pipistrellus pipistrellus - Bat Conservation Trust list of UK bat name

Hi Charlie - that is certainly the way that the Species Inventory has been set up, with Vespertilio pipistrellus [NBNSYS0000158967] pointing to the s.l. version. It might have been kept with the s.l. name just in case there were old records that pre-dated the split but I have checked the other list it was used on (Recorder 3.3) and it used it as a synonym too, so records shouldn't have gone onto it. I have moved it to the s.s. name, unless anyone complains :)
