Topic: Primula hybrid

Feedback from NBN Gateway:
You have a botanical error on your site. The "False Oxlip" is NOT P. vulgaris x P. veris - this cross is generally sterile. It is P. veris x P. vulgaris. Besides knowing this from experience, (I breed them, and did my PhD on my own plants) I would refer anyone querying it  to D. H. Valentine, 1955, Studies in British Primulas No.4, Hybridization between Primula vulgaris and P. Veris; New Phytologist 54, pp70-80.

Re: Primula hybrid

Thanks for that Graham - I will just edit the existing name string in this case, as it doesn't change in any way the taxonomy.

I chatted to Mark Spencer about the request this morning and he is actually in the process of working on the Oxlip and the Primula hybrids in the herbarium and he asked if you'd mind putting the chap in touch with us here?

Thanks, Chris R.
