Topic: New Coleopteron Needed on Dictionary

Chris,

There has been recent discussion on the "Beetles-BritishIsles" discussion group about a beetle recorded in Norfolk last year (2012) - this being Coproporus immigrans Schülke, 2007.  It seems it originates in Australasia.

Coproporus immigrans is a newish tachyporine described by Michael Schulke in 2007 (original des). Putative adventive in Europe.

COPROPORUS Kraatz, 1857
immigrans Schülke, 2007

will be listed immediately after CILEA in the next edition of the checklist.

Added by Welch (2010). See Sage (2012) for other records.

SAGE, B. 2012. The first records of Coproporus immigrans Schülke and
Pseudomedon obscurellus (Erichson) (Staphylinidae) for Norfolk. The
Coleopterist 21: 79.

WELCH, R.C. 2010. Coleoptera recorded from Huntingdonshire during
2009, including ten species new to vice county 31. Report of the
Huntingdonshire Fauna and Flora Society 62[2009]: 29-35.

So, could you please add this species to the Dictionary ?

Many thanks.

Re: New Coleopteron Needed on Dictionary

Hi Steve, yes that's no problem - I'll get onto it right away :)

I am in the throws of planning the necessary updates to Andrew Duff's checklist to get it to the 2012 edition - a really fiddly job. No doubt he will add this taxon in his next (2013?) edition but I will see if I can slot it in while I am doing the others, if Andrew doesn't mind :)

Re: New Coleopteron Needed on Dictionary

All done - bit fiddlier than usual because I have added it to Andrew's checklist too - jumping the queue somewhat. The details are:

"Coproporus Kraatz, 1857" tvk NHMSYS0020977593
"Coproporus immigrans Schülke, 2007" tvk NHMSYS0020977599

Now I "just" have to do all the others! ;)
