Topic: Changes needed to the Diptera dictionary
The following changes are needed to the Diptera dictionary:
Limoniidae:
Gonomyia abscondita Lackschewitz, 1935 was raised from synonymy with G. lucidula de Meijere, 1920 by Stary in 2011
Limnophila adjuncta, L. nemoralis, L. separata sensu Stubbs - the genus Dicranophragma was raised in 2008 by Stary & Reusch to accomodate the species adjunctum, nemorale sensu lato and separatum, the latter newly recognised as a valid species. Gender changes result with the species now being known as Dicranophragma adjunctum (Walker, 1848), D. nemorale (Meigen, 1818) and D. separatum (Walker, 1848).
Syrphidae:
Two welcome returns to familiar names as a result of ICZN submissions:
Eristalis nemorum (Linnaeus, 1758) was confirmed as a valid name by ICZN (2006) and therefore should be used instead of E. interruptus (Poda, 1761)
Eristalis horticola (De Geer, 1776) was confirmed as a valid name by ICZN (2006) and therefore should be used instead of E. lineata (Harris, 1776)
Source of all the above is the British Diptera Checklist maintained by Peter Chandler as a PDF on the Dipterists Forum website.
