Topic: Euura problems

More synonymy problems, I think with Euura spp.   Several are returned as two items on the Gateway, one with subgenus and the other under just the genus.

Also, I notice that searching for 'Euura mucronata' returns only E. amerinae, for which it was once misidentified, while not returning E. (Gemmura) mucronata (TVK NHMSYS0020481175).

I am just bumping this gently as there has been no response.

Re: Euura problems

Thanks Murdo - I logged it and did a brief investigation at the time but was distracted before fixing it. I will look into it again today :)

Re: Euura problems

OK, that should be sorted now - I have repointed all of the Euura names that do not have subgenera to those that do. This needed a new TVK for "Euura (Gemmura) laeta (Brischke, 1883)" (TVK NHMSYS0020977125).

I have also reviewed the situation with Euura mucronata and amerinae and I think we should be fine now. Euura mucronata is a valid UK species so the only "mucronata" synonym attached to amerinae should be the one with the "misident" attribute. :)

Re: Euura problems

Thanks Chris.  I do wonder if there are systemic problems with the synonymies of gall-causers, as if you review the posts I made in the year when things sat in limbo in this forum, many referred to gall-causers in a variety of taxon groups.

Re: Euura problems

I know that Gavin has been working on various checklists of Hymenoptera so it might be resolved. Until then I am happy to fix them in an ad-hoc way as and where people can point them out :)
