Topic: Braconidae wasp - how do I record

Not sure if this question should be in this forum, or in the "How do I do ..." forum.

I have an ID from an expert for a Braconidae wasp, Heterogamus dispar.  But the dictionary lists only go as far as Braconidae as the family, and doesn't even include the sub-family of Rogadinae, or the genus of course!

So how can I record this?

Thanks
Nigel

Assume your using Recorder? - in which case, Heterogamus dispar can be found the "list of additional names".

Re: Braconidae wasp - how do I record

Yes, I am using Recorder, latest version, etc.
I have indeed now found it under ""List of additional names", which I didn't know existed.
However I had previously used a search using "unrestricted", and it didn't find it.  But now it does!  However the initial opening of the additional names list caused Recorder to stop and think for a very long time (as never before).  It has the probably nonsensical analogy of looking for something in a long lost cavern that has never been explored in recent times!

Anyway, thanks for that!

Re: Braconidae wasp - how do I record

Hi Nigel

The speed issue with the List of Additional Names is something we are painfully aware of and are working to improve. It comes from the fact that it was never perceived to be a very long list but has grown to around 19000 names. ;)

Best wishes,

Hi Chris
Now that makes perfect sense.  Since I'm now aware of the problem,  I'm not too bothered  - never had need of it before now (from a selfish point of view!).

Best wishes
