Topic: Custody of records
How easy is it to manually reassign custody of records i.e. say a file transferred to another copy of recorder was lost so there's no way for the receiver to import the records and then re-export the records returning custody to the originator.
Is it a case of going into each table within the database in SQL Server and manually changing each instance of Custodian to the desired copy (where relevant, I know there are some custodianships need to be left alone i.e. the ones in the SURVEY_STATUS table), or would this cause major problems? I can restore from a backup if necessary, but this would necessitate the re-import of thousands of records afterwards.
At the moment this is merely a theoretical question and hopefully it won't come to this but in case it does, I need to work out what my next move is.
