Topic: Eurasian and green-winged teals

Whilst searching for Eurasian (ie ordinary) Teal records (Anas crecca), I noticed that the report wizard pulls out Green-winged Teal records as well (now Anas carolinensis, was once Anas crecca carolinensis) when one searches for Anas crecca with the expand taxonomic list tick box ticked, but not when un-ticked.  Obviously this is not right.
However, if one looks at the taxon dictionary page, the two birds are clearly listed as different species, as they should be.
so, somewhere, the reporting wizard is picking up the American green-winged teal records too.  These are all bar one recorded since the split of the species, and have thus been enetered into recorder as distinct species.  The green-winged teal (carolinensis) records all get reported on when that species is used in the report wizard, so it is not a specific dictionary or date subset being mis-identified as crecca but the whole lot.

something that needs checking in the species relationships in the background, I guess.

Hi Louise

I have a feeling that this is more a Recorder issue than a Species Inventory issue but I will watch the thread with interest, in case anyone wants to ask me to check anything down here :)

Best wishes,
