Topic: Coleoptera: Oulema lichenis

Oulema lichenis (Voet, 1806) is on the NBN Gateway as a separate entity (with records) - but this taxon doesn't exist in Duffs latest checklist. The Lincs distribution of these records suggests that these should be attributed to Oulema obscura.

(Oulema lichenis sensu (Weise, 1882) non (Voet, 1806) does and is a syn. of Oulema obscura (Stephens, 1831), which appears to be correctly represented on the Gateway)

(This might be an NBN Gateway problem, but thought I'd start here :))

(Indeed I appear to have uploaded a number of records of Oulema lichenis to the Gateway, but we only have 2 records here (from the Recorder 3 dictionary) - and these don't appear to be linking to the correct taxon Oulema obscura)

(And now I'm thoroughly confused by it all :))

Re: Coleoptera: Oulema lichenis

From what I can see, Oulema lichenis (Voet, 1806) really is a synonym of Oulema obscura (Stephens, 1831), as is Oulema gallaeciana (Heyden, 1879) and Lema lichenis Voet, 1806. My guess, if Andrew would confirm this is that we just need to change the nameserver so that O.lichenis points to the recommended name Oulema obscura (Stephens, 1831). I will drop him an email and double-check it :)

Re: Coleoptera: Oulema lichenis

This has been confirmed and re-pointed in the master copy - thanks for pointing out the discrepancy :)
