Re: Another Sawfly Correct/Change

Charles,

Currently, the species Nesoselandria morio is known to the Dictionary as Dulophanes morio.  The Genus Dulophanes needs changing back to synonymic status and the Nesoselandria Genus resurrecting - as per the note below from Guy Knight of World Museum, Liverpool:

"Dulophanes has gone back to Nesoselandria again. Andrew made this change to the most recent checklist which you can reach via the NHM website http://www.nhm.ac.uk/research-curation/ … index.html in order to bring it in line with the new world catalogue - Taeger, A., Blank, S.M. & Liston, A.D. (2010) World Catalogue of Symphyta (Hymenoptera) Zootaxa 2580: 1–1064. It seems that Lacourt's interpretation of Dulophanes (Lacourt, J. 1998: Discussion du genre Dulophanes Konow, 1907 définissant la nouvelle tribu des Dulophanini [Hymenoptera, Tenthredinidae]. - Revue française d'Entomologie, (N. S.), Paris 20(1-2): 45-50) is no longer valid - the true Dulophanes are an Afrotropical group.

It might be worth making Charles aware of this version of the checklist, it should not change too much now (although we've got got quite a number of species to add in a paper on Scottish sawflies which should be out before too long). It also explains Dolerus fumosus too - sanguinicollis is a distinct species which does not occur in the UK.".

Cheers

Re: Another Sawfly Correct/Change

Hi Steve - that'd been added down here now - thanks. The change also required the addition of a new, well-formed name (Nesoselandria morio (Fabricius, 1781) - TVK=NHMSYS0020973393) because the existing name in the database was lacking an authority date and so had been marked ill-formed.
