Re: Recorder 6 crashing during import process

Looks like some  sort of problem with the connection to the database,  A few questions

1. Which version of R6 are you on
2. Have there been any changes in hardware or software which happened just before this
3. Does Recorder 6 otherwise work normally
4. Are they large imports or does it happen with imports of any  size ?
5  Is there a chance that  SQL Server may have reached capacity

Re: Recorder 6 crashing during import process

Hi Mike, in answer to your questions:

1. We are on version 6.29.0.290, which I think is the most up to date one?
2. I have swapped my copy of Recorder (ours is networked) from a desktop to a laptop, but the problems started a week or so before that happened.
3. Recorder otherwise appears to be working fine
4. it happens with imports of any size, but more often if I have already imported one dataset (if I do two small datasets the second might cause it to crash). It tends to crash either at the start of the import process or right at the end
5. I don't think so - we currently have just under 750,000 records, although we are looking to upgrade to the full version of SQL shortly.

hope this helps

thanks
Lorna

Re: Recorder 6 crashing during import process

Thank you. Nothing much IW wise changed with 6.29 and as you say I think you should have plenty of space.

Please get your IT people to check the SQl Server timeout

Using SQL Server Management Studio

Connect to MS SQL server via SQL Management Studio.
In Object Explorer, right-click on the server name and then select Properties.
In the new tab, click on Connections node.
In Remote Query Timeout change if it isn't zero change it to zero.

If it is zero already then let me know as this will eliminate timeout as the reason for the problem.

Re: Recorder 6 crashing during import process

Hi MikeWeideli,

Your last post solved the issue until today where it has started up again.

Remote Query Timeout is on zero.

No changes to the network.

New VoIP phone system installed last week but that shouldn't make a difference.

Thanks

Deon

Re: Recorder 6 crashing during import process

Hi all, further to this issue today I have tried restarting Recorder and restarting the computer and then trying the import again but it is crashing at the same stage in the import process - the last step - each time. I imported another dataset earlier today with no problems. Very frustrating. Previously when Recorder has been crashing intermittently it has been working ok when I have tried the import again, but no it does not seem to want to import this dataset at all.

Re: Recorder 6 crashing during import process

We need to establish If it is just this dataset or a wider problem. What error message are you getting. Is it the same as before? Can you import other data ?  Try a single record test with just basic details.
