Topic: Issues with moth hierarchy in R6 organism view

There is an issue with the children of Hadena genus - some subspp linked directly to subgenus and not their species parent, some species linked to genus and not through the sub-genus.

Also found similar issues with Zygaena genus for which there are a lot of subspecies, and many of these are linked directly to subgenus and not to their parent species.

Something affecting the moth species where there is a subgenus present? Haven't got time to check for others just now.

This continues the ongoing struggle following the lepidoptera dictionary update a few years ago - I'm assuming these issues were likely present before the latest update (00000040) and haven't been caused by it.

Re: Issues with moth hierarchy in R6 organism view

Hi Mark, well spotted, that does look to be in a bit of a pickle. Let me sort that out and I'll reply here when I've got it fixed. It could be something to do with the way that the Agassiz list linked trinomials to the genus, but I thought I'd spotted and corrected the linkages in Organism.

Re: Issues with moth hierarchy in R6 organism view

Hadena & Zygaena should be done now and available in the next release :)

The problem occurred due to the way that the Agassiz data linked trinomials directly to genera, not to a valid binomial. I have created all the necessary binomials and have linked quite a lot of the trinomials in but it seems that a few have escaped and I need to repatch those.

Re: Issues with moth hierarchy in R6 organism view

I have just done a quick comparison between the moth checklist and the Organism table and have tidied up a few problems on both side. Should all be fixed with the next update. Also noticed that the Agassiz number seems to have lost its decimals (again!) so I have corrected these.
