Topic: Water beetle Ochthebius subinteger

Ochthebius subinteger and O. lejolisii both appear in the NBN species dictionary, with more records attributed to subinteger. Ochthebius lejolisii used to be considered a subspecies of subinteger but was raised to species level years ago. For example, see the 2008 Duff beetle checklist. The true Ochthebius subinteger is not a British species.

Re: Water beetle Ochthebius subinteger

Hi John

Do you think that "Ochthebius subinteger" should be changed to "Ochthebius subinteger auct. brit." and then made a junior synonym of "Ochthebius (Homalochthebius) lejolisii"?

Many thanks

Yes, I think that would cover it. O. subinteger sensu auctt. is a synonym of O. lejolisii in the Duff checklist.

OK, that should be fixed now - I have synonymised the stray "subinteger" and marked it "sensu auctt."  :)
