Dear Charles (Hussey),

Following on from the  Aphid List I sent a while ago: the BBC News reports this morning have indicated that the Leylandii Aphid is causing considerable damage to Leylandii hedges across the country. The aphid causing the problem is actually called the Cypress Aphid (Cinara cupressi). It was incorporated within the list I sent but I do have a small amount of additional information - see details below:


Cypress Aphid   Cinara cupressi Buckton, 1881 (Lachnus) (Heliptera: Aphididae)    -    earlier synonym : Cinara cupressivora Watson & Vogtlin

Thank you very much Charles - it looks like the next Dictionary release will be like Xmas for me what with all the new additions I have requested. Great news. Obviously the old axiom of "everything comes to he who waits" is extremely apposite, at least in this case.
