Re: Micro-moth Adela reaumurella Typo/Mis-spelling

In the Recorder-3 dictionary the micro-moth Adela reaumurella is mis-spelt (a 'u' is missing) and the entry is shown as Adela reamurella. It should have a 'u' after 'rea' so it reads 'reaumurella'.

Any chance of a fix ?

Cheers

Re: Micro-moth Adela reaumurella Typo/Mis-spelling

Dear Steve,

This is in a different class to 'Pale Stoencrop', which was an obvious transcription error. Since this spelling appears in other lists besides the Recorder 3.3 the entry in TAXON table will not be changed - we don't try and correct published lists. The correctly spelled name (with complete authority) is already in the Dictionary and is associated with the Dictionary version of Bradley 2000. I would really advise people not to use the Recorder 3.3 list any more; it is out of date, contains numerous errors and is not being maintained. For Lepidoptera use Bradley 2000 instead.

Another reason for retaining Adela reamurella is that it is being used 'in the outside world' (with 527 hits on Google). Having it in our Name Server flags it as an error and allows it to be mapped to the correct form.

Sorry if this seems picky but having these miss-spellings in the Dictionary can sometimes be useful.

Best wishes,

Charles Hussey
