Topic: Mediterranean Termite (Reticulitermes grassei)

Chris,

According to this article (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/earth/e … ms-up.html) the Mediterranean Termite (Reticulitermes grassei) is already found in the British Isles.  I notice it is not on the UKSI.  Could it be checked and added please ??

Extract from the article:  "The Mediterranean Termite (Reticulitermes grassei) is already established in the UK and is expected to become a growing problem. Its extensive burrowing can cause serious structural damage to buildings.".

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks for that Charlie - I hadn't noticed that paper.   Chris may still wish to add the species to allow the record(s) from the site to be recorded for future interest.

Re: Mediterranean Termite (Reticulitermes grassei)

Thanks guys - I will add this because I am pretty sure that Steph will want to add it as an eradicated non-native :

org par NBNORG0000075646 (Dictyoptera)
Infraorder Isoptera
tvk NHMSYS0021164899
Rhinotermitidae
tvk NHMSYS0021164905
Reticulitermes Holmgren, 1913
tvk NHMSYS0021164911
Reticulitermes grassei Clement, 1978
tvk NHMSYS0021164917
Mediterranean Termite
tvk NHMSYS0021164923

I've added it as Dictyoptera, which is listed as cockroaches but actually they are cockroaches AND termites so I might have to modify the output group ;)
