Topic: Hypera pastinaceae or Hypera pastinacae?

Hello Chris.

I had occasion to chase up Hypera rumicis today, and noted in passing that UKSI has the preferred name as

Hypera (Tigrinellus) pastinacEae (Rossi, 1790) - my capital 'E' -

while EOL, GBIF and PESI have

Hypera pastinacae (Rossi, 1790) - i.e. only one 'E'

and none gives pastinacEae as a synonym.  UKSI has pastinacae as a synonym.

Is it a typo?

M.

Hi Murdo

It seems to come from Andrew Duff's 2012 checklist with that spelling. I will email him and just see what the situation is :)

Best wishes,
Chris R.

Andrew has confirmed that this is a typo - he has requested we just correct the name and not make it into a needless junior synonym :)

That sounds a pragmatic solution, Chris.  Thanks.
