Topic: Medicago sativa nothosubsp. varia

Is the synonymy of Medicago sativa subsp. sativa and Medicago sativa nothosubsp. varia correct? The BSBI seem to differentiate the two on their mapping system.

Hmm, you might be right there. To my mind, and after consulting Stace3, it looks like we have these 2:

Concept A:
Medicago sativa nothosubsp. varia (Martyn) Arcang.  (Nothosubspecies, flowering plant)  NON-NATIVE TERRESTRIAL
   =Medicago sativa subsp. sativa L.     
   =Lucerne      
   =Alfalfa   

Concept B:
Medicago sativa subsp. varia (Martyn) Arcang.  (Subspecies, flowering plant)
   =Medicago x varia Martyn     
   =Medicago falcata x sativa Martyn     
   =Sand Lucerne      
   =Hybrid Lucerne   

To me, "Medicago sativa nothosubsp. varia (Martyn) Arcang." needs to move to be the recommended name of concept B. Then "Medicago sativa subsp. sativa L." should be promoted to be the recommended name of concept A. What do you think?
