Hi Don - leave it with me - that looks to be a tricky one so I will have a chat with Andrew Duff and just make sure that I understand the way that the taxonomic concepts have changed :)

Re: Changes to genus Micrambe

Sorry Don, can I clarify something?  At the moment we have:

Micrambe abietis (Paykull, 1798)

Micrambe aubrooki Donisthorpe, 1939

Micrambe bimaculata (Panzer, 1798)
   =Micrambe bimaculatus (Panzer, 1798)
   =Cryptophagus bimaculatus (Panzer)
   =Micrambinus bimaculatus (Panzer)

Micrambe pilosula (Erichson, 1846)
   =Micrambe lindbergorum (Bruce, 1934)

Micrambe ulicis (Stephens, 1830)
   =Micrambe vini (Panzer, 1797)

Micrambe woodroffei Johnson, 2007
   =Micrambe villosa (Heer, 1841)
   =Micrambe villosus (Heer, 1841)
   =Micrambe vini villosa (Heer)

So we have all of the species in Duff (2012) already, with the correct accepted names, but were you querying the format of the synonyms?

Best wishes,
Chris R.

Re: Changes to genus Micrambe

No, not the format.

When I try adding Micrambe pilosula or Micrambe woodroffei as a record in Recorder 6, neither is recognised despite my taxon dictionary being up to date at version 2Z.
If I look through the taxon dictionary the Micrambe species listed are abietis, aubrooki, bimaculata, lindbergorum, villosa and vini.

Don,

I am sure you will have already done this mate but have you tried rebuilding the indices on the Dictionary in Recorder-6 ??

Just a thought.

Cheers and take care.

Re: Changes to genus Micrambe

Have you checked the 'list of additional names'? pilosula, ulicis and woodroffei should be in there (at least, they are in mine).

Re: Changes to genus Micrambe

Ahh, yes Recorder6 has a slightly different way of handling names - it is more list-dependent. iRecord treats them all as a block of names that you can choose from but in Recorder6 you might have to use List of Additional Names to pick up recent additions. I have done some optimisation to the LoAN to make it respond faster than it did in the past so I hope it is usable. :)

With the move to having a master taxonomy & synonymy we are hoping to be less reliant on checklist updates and make it easier for people to record across many different groups. :)
